ICI College delivered one of the most remarkable debuts in Bulacan collegiate sports history after clinching the Men’s Basketball Championship of the Bulacan University & Collegiate Athletic Association (BUCAA) Season 2, held on December 1, 2025 at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium. Competing in the league for the first time and going up against 32 other schools across the province, ICI defied expectations and established themselves as an emerging powerhouse in their inaugural season.
Guided by Head Coach Noel L. Leguin and Assistant Coach Mr. Noel D.C. Domdom Jr., ICI displayed impressive composure throughout the best-of-three finals series against DPR. In the decisive Game 3, ICONS started strong and held a narrow 18–16 lead at the end of the first quarter. Their momentum carried into the second period, where they built a 39–30 advantage behind improved ball movement and tighter defensive stops. DPR, however, refused to fade, capitalizing on turnovers and executing a strong third-quarter rally that allowed them to erase ICI’s lead and force a 59–59 deadlock heading into the final quarter.
With the championship hanging in the balance, ICI showed remarkable composure despite being a newcomer in the league The team executed key plays in the closing minutes, regained control of the tempo, and closed out the game with timely baskets and crucial defensive stands. When the final buzzer sounded, ICI secured an 82–77 victory, sealing both the game and the BUCAA Season 2 title. The win also capped off the series where ICI took Game 1, DPR responded in Game 2, and ICI ultimately prevailed in the decisive third match.
ICI’s historic run was further highlighted by individual excellence. Two of their players, Gerald Raymundo and Nash Jeremy Fernandez, were named to the tournament’s Mythical Five. Fernandez, who played a pivotal role in the team’s success throughout the season and delivered clutch performances in the finals, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honor. His leadership and consistency became defining elements of ICI’s championship campaign.
Following the emotional victory, the ICI team gathered at center court to offer a prayer of thanks, reflecting the school’s gratitude for the opportunity and the blessing of an unforgettable season. For a program competing in BUCAA for the first time, ICI’s rapid rise to the top stands as a testament to discipline, teamwork, and unwavering determination. Their championship run not only marks a milestone for the school but also signals the arrival of a formidable new contender in Bulacan collegiate basketball.
