From Humble Beginnings to an Iconic Legacy

It all began with a vision, quiet at first, but powerful enough to build a future.

On March 5, 2008, the Immaculate Conception I-College of Arts and Technology (ICI-CAT) was born from a simple yet ambitious dream: to create a learning institution that would not just educate, but empower the youth to build meaningful, successful careers. Back then, there were no grand halls or sprawling campuses, only a modest three-storey building with a handful of classrooms, equipped with the basic TESDA requirements. But within those walls lived something far greater than facilities: belief, determination, and purpose.

Under the leadership of School Director Dr.. Neil B. Mateo, ICI-CAT began its journey with a bold promise, to shape learners through innovation, discipline, and skills-based education that meets real-world demands.

By May 14, 2008, that promise officially opened its doors. With the release of its Certificates of Program Registration, ICI welcomed its very first students, young dreamers stepping into a future they were just beginning to imagine.

The First Spark of Greatness (2008–2009)

The first academic year was nothing short of historic.

In 2008–2009, ICI welcomed 272 pioneering students who took a leap of faith into programs like Hotel and Restaurant Services, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology and Front Office, and Call Center Management. They were the first to write the institution’s story, page by page, skill by skill, dream by dream.

ICI quickly became more than a school; it became a rising name in Bulacan’s academic landscape. It joined the Bulacan Private Schools Association (BULPRISA) and Bulacan Association of Technical Schools (BATS), strengthening its roots in the educational community.

And then, almost unexpectedly, greatness began to show.

On February 4, 2009, ICI students triumphed in the Dessert Making competition at the Chicharon and Tuge Festival in Santa. Maria, Bulacan, proving that excellence could come from first-year students. Weeks later, they made history again, being crowned Overall Champion at the Bulacan Provincial Skills Competition, bringing home gold, silver, and bronze medals in a stunning display of talent and determination.

Even beyond competitions, ICI opened its doors to the world, welcoming Korean Youth Summer Work Camp delegates in 2008, fostering cultural exchange and global awareness.

The message was clear: ICI was small, but never ordinary.

Growing Beyond Boundaries (2009–2015)

Dreams do not stay small for long.

In 2009, ICI set its sights higher, forming a partnership with the University of Regina Carmeli (now La Consolacion University Philippines) to expand into degree programs. What started as extension classes in Computer Science, Hospitality Management, Business, and Education quickly became the foundation of something much bigger.

By 2012, ICI proudly launched its own degree programs, BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Accounting Technology, Tourism Management, and Associate in Computer Technology.

Each program was a doorway. Each student, a future professional in the making.

By 2015, CHED formally recognized these programs, solidifying ICI’s transformation from a skills training center into a legitimate institution of higher learning.

Rising with a New Generation (2018)

When the K–12 system reshaped Philippine education, ICI did not hesitate, it expanded.

In A.Y. 2018–2019, new programs emerged, designed for a changing world: Accountancy, Psychology, Criminology, Communication, Physical Education, and Technical-Vocational Teacher Education with specialized majors.

ICI was no longer just growing, it was evolving, adapting, and leading.

Strength in Crisis (2020–2022)

Then came a global pause, the COVID-19 pandemic.

But ICI refused to stop.

Through innovation and resilience, it launched ICIAP MyE-Class, a Moodle-powered digital learning platform that brought classrooms into homes. Lessons continued. Dreams continued. Growth continued.

By A.Y. 2021–2022, it evolved into ICON Education, symbolizing a stronger, more connected, and future-ready learning environment.

Even in isolation, education at ICI never stood still.

A New Milestone in Excellence (2026)

And just when the story seemed already remarkable, ICI reached another defining chapter.

In 2026, the institution proudly introduced the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, expanding its academic horizon into one of the most in-demand and impactful fields of all, building not just professionals, but future builders of society itself.

Looking Forward

From a humble set of classrooms in 2008 to a thriving institution shaping diverse professionals today, ICI-CAT’s journey is more than a timeline, it is a testament to vision, resilience, and unstoppable growth.

What began as a dream has become a legacy.

And this legacy continues to rise, stronger, broader, and bolder, shaping leaders who will not only face the future, but build it.
