ICI students receive the Best Oral Presentation award at the 4th PITHRecon

ICI College proudly celebrates the achievement of its student researchers who represented the institution at the 4th Philippine International Tourism and Hospitality Research Conference (PITH-ReCon 2026) hosted by University of Santo Tomas and Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Two research groups from the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management were selected to present their studies, highlighting innovation and academic excellence in the field of tourism and hospitality. The presentations were conducted under the guidance of Research Adviser Ms. Andrea Nicole Ramirez.

One of the research groups, composed of Elijah Jin Cruz, Kazie Simon, Leslie Jasmine Mauricio, and Mark Laurence Celestino, presented the study titled “From Leaves to Herbs: Perceptions of Ficus Pseudopalma (Lubi-Lubi) as a Potential Nutritional Herb.” Their work earned the first ever Best Oral Presentation in the cluster category of Sustainable Community-based Food Nutrition and Development. The study explored the potential of Ficus pseudopalma, locally known as Lubi-Lubi, as a sustainable nutritional herb.

Another research presentation titled “Assessing Equality in the Airline Industry: A Study of Cebu Pacific Manila Flight Attendants’ Inclusivity of the LGBTQIAA+ Community in Employment” examined inclusivity and workplace equality within the airline industry. The research highlighted important perspectives on diversity and inclusivity in aviation employment.

The selected studies demonstrated the dedication, curiosity, and academic capability of ICI College students. Their research contributions reflect the institution’s commitment to encouraging student-led innovation and meaningful exploration in tourism, hospitality, and related disciplines.

ICI College congratulates the student researchers and the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management for this milestone.
